Raising Awareness Of Oregon’s Education

Born in the United States to parents that immigrated from Mexico, Lizbeth and her brother both struggled in school. Yet, overcoming her academic challenges is what led Lizbeth to her passion for helping others.

Working hard to pass her English proficiency test and graduating from McKay High School with a 3.9 GPA, Lizbeth was a determined student. She turned her academic success towards helping her brother while her parents worked to support the family. Here she discovered her passion for helping other students achieve success. She began worked as a tutor to students who had language barriers, chaotic home life, and to help fill gaps in students education. Experiencing some of these challenges herself, she was well equipped to help other students overcome them .

Dreaming of a career as an elementary educator, Lizbeth would be the first in her family to attend college. The journey wasn’t easy, but her determination resulted in a scholarship and the opportunity to attend Corban University. Lizbeth is quick to give credit to God and to her parents for her success. “They started from zero”. She explained. Lizbeth shared that she can’t wait to give back and to thank them for paving the way.
